Sports Venues in the Garden State

Watching a sporting event live is one of the ultimate pastimes in the United States. There’s something about being surrounded by other spectators, watching your favourite team against a rival, trying their best to be crowned the winner of the match. The visitors and residents of New Jersey have an impressive range of sports venues that can accommodate a vast selection of fans to enjoy a terrific sporting event. This includes the Prudential Center, the Meadowlands Sports Complex, and the Arm & Hammer Park.

Prudential Center

The New Jersey Devils of the NHL and the Seton Hall Pirates of the NCAA call the Prudential Center their home. The Prudential Center is considered a multi-purpose arena that is indoors, located in Newark, New Jersey. The venue first opened its doors back in 2007 with a seating capacity of 16,514 for ice hockey games along with a seating capacity of 18,711 for basketball games. Sportswriters and fans refer to the arena as The Rock due to the Rock of Gibraltar which is a corporate logo for Prudential Financial, a world-renowned financial institution. In December 2013, the Prudential Center was ranked third in terms of annual revenue nationally and 9th in terms of yearly income internationally.

Meadowlands Sports Complex

The Meadowlands Sports Complex is an entertainment and sports complex which is situated in Bergen County, New Jersey. The property is operated and owned by the Sports and Exposition Authority of New Jersey. The property consists of the MetLife Stadium which is home to the New York Jets and the New York Giants, both forming part of the National Football League, along with the Meadowlands Racetrack which is home to the Quest Diagnostics Training Center and the Hambletonian Stakes. The property is also home to the American Dream Meadowlands venue and the Brooklyn Nets that form part of the NBA. The arena was initially constructed in 1972 and came with a seating capacity of 82,500 people.

Arm & Hammer Park

The Arm & Hammer Park also referred to as the Mercer County Waterfront Park can be considered a sports venue which is situated in Trenton, New Jersey. The Trenton Thunder baseball team call the Arm & Hammer Park their home, a baseball team that participates in Minor League Baseball forming part of the Eastern League. The Arm & Hammer Park has a small seating capacity of only 6,150 people and was initially constructed back in 1994. The venue had a massive drainage problem after it opened its doors, but it was fixed during 1995. The site set a record in terms of game attendance back in 2011 when the Trenton Thunder played against the Altoona Curve. The match was held over the holiday weekend of Independence Day, and the game was attended by Derek Jeter who played for the New York Yankees. The attendance on that day reached over 9,000. During August 2013, the audience also reached over 8,000 when Alex Rodriguez played on two occasions.
