Europa League

The Europa League is an annual club football competition organized by UEFA (the Union of European Football Associations). It is considered the second most prestigious tournament for European football clubs, ranking below the UEFA Champions League. The competition is open to eligible football clubs from various European leagues that do not qualify for the Champions League.

Introduced in 1971 as the UEFA Cup, it was rebranded as the UEFA Europa League in 2009 to enhance its profile and align with the branding of the Champions League. The tournament features a group stage followed by knockout rounds, culminating in a final where the champion is determined. The winner of the Europa League qualifies for the following season’s Champions League and may also compete in the UEFA Super Cup against the winner of the Champions League. The tournament is known for featuring a diverse range of clubs from across Europe, showcasing different playing styles and football cultures.
