Spanish Supreme Court

The Spanish Supreme Court, or “Tribunal Supremo” in Spanish, is the highest judicial authority in Spain. It is responsible for ensuring the uniform interpretation of law across the country and serves as the final court of appeal in civil, criminal, administrative, and labor matters. The court handles cases of significant legal importance and addresses appeals against decisions made by lower courts. The Spanish Supreme Court is governed by the Spanish Constitution and operates independently from the executive and legislative branches of government. Its decisions can set binding precedents for lower courts, thereby influencing the development of Spanish law. The court is composed of several chambers, each specializing in different areas of law, and is located in Madrid.
